I read The Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd a few years ago. Whether you believe in Jesus or not, whether you are well versed in the New Testament or not, this is a fascinating read.
For me this book hammered home how profound and radical unconditional love is and how deeply far reaching the beauty and good it creates goes. In fact, in its pure and intended form, this love has lived on and healed for 2,026 years.
This story, the story of Jesus is that of radical love. Jesus loved without judgement and the ripple effect of that has been unimaginably vast. He conquered death because radical love is bigger than death. It pulses on and on through the hearts and actions of people who show love today! He didn’t limit his love to a precious few…
I bring all of this up, not to preach. I bring this up because I am watching hate unfold in our country in a devastating and deadly way. I bring this up because we don’t have to be a part of this hate, in fact, we, the people, have choices while we are here on this earth. We can live and love small, or we can live and love big! . We can gift others with unconditional love instead of harnesses them with painful judgement.
Jesus chose love. What will you choose?
